I'm here to help you. Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling with daily challenges? Has your world been turned upside down? Have you recently experienced personal loss? We all need to experience someone who cares, someone to listen.
About me and my practice
I've worked as a teacher for 25+ years and as a mentor and therapist for almost as long. My practice is wide covering life transitions, relationship issues and bereavement. I have extensive experience with both young and older adults. I can offer deep work with complex, childhood traumas if that's what you are looking for. And I can help you with feelings of panic, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. My goals are your goals, and to help you toward wellness, greater personal awareness, self-worth and authenticity.
Experience
I trained first as a lawyer in Scotland, and also have a background as a performing artist. I taught voice at university level in USA for 20+ years, and added a Masters in Clinical Counseling as I found that working with a person's voice often involved other aspects such as their body, thoughts and feelings, all connected through breath. I have practiced as a therapist in USA, using techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Expressive Therapies and applied Polyvagal Theory. I am also a Certified Austin Vocal Psychotherapist (AVPT). This approach is a branch of music therapy which uses breath work, natural sounds and singing as a way to healing and wholeness. (But don't worry, you don't have to sing - I also do just talk therapy!)
